The organization
FUNDACIÓN RIOJA was established to take care of and to treat children with malformations. Also, the organization wants to address malnutrition as a risk factor for these children. Furthermore, by promoting social education and the training of medical professionals we aim to guide and teach doctors not just as medical providers but also as people with social skills.
Vision
FUNDACIÓN RIOJA wants to have the resources to improve the quality of life of all children in the Rioja province and neighboring provinces, who face an uncertain future. They aim to do this by creating better life circumstances, improving social integration and enhancing the healthcare that is offered. In this way we aim to create a more just and equal society within the educational and healthcare system.
FUNDACIÓN RIOJA does not only want to work on an illness without being able to help with other factors that influence children with their malformation or disability. They also want to educate children within a social context. They want to help them and guide them towards a happier future.
Mission
We are a non-profit organization that is dedicated to take care of children with congenital malformations. We offer medical help with complicated surgeries of cleft lips and other pedriatic malformations. Also, we address malnutrition of children as a risk factor and promote social education of children. Furthermore, we train medical professionals in a way that they can develop themselves, that they can conduct epidemiological investigations and that they will be able to do complex surgeries themselves. Herewith we encourage the search for solutions for all named cases through an interdisciplinary commitment with an important social impact.
OBJETIVES

Perform studies on children with a cleft lip and other congenital malfunctions in the towns and cities of the Rioja province as well as neihboring
provinces in Argentina.
Start up surgery programs and perform treatments at several locations, based on the complexity of the necessary treatments and available healthcare resources.

Try to work together and create a treatment environment in which unnecessary transport and high social costs are avoided.

Offer courses on pediatric deseases, and therewith trying to establish guidelines for diacnostic criteria. Herewith we also want to offer treatments by medical professionals all around the province.

Collaborate to create interdisciplinary medical teams and parent groups in each region by promoting the social commitment to help.

Approach malnutrition of children with a comprehensive approach and the Conin-method, engaging children, mothers and the shole family.

Perform a population study on children with nutrition problems.

Perform epidemiological studies that promote research in the area of risk factors and the formation of congenital malformations.

WHAT CAN WE DO AS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION?
Perform epidemiological studies which give us the possibility to find out what the cause is of malformations, since this is not known yet. In this way we also try to indentify risk factors.
Perform free necessary surgical treatments by creating a control and follow up network.
Gather prosthetic material to be able to give reconstructive surgical treatments.
Come to agreements with other provinces to offer free care for children with a cleft lip by giving multidisciplinary treatments, or setting up centers with the same facilities in the different cities.
Gather financial resources to be able to perform the necessary surgical treatments in the Rioja province.
Improving prenatal diagnosis by offering care to the mother and the child at the right time in the right place.
