THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD NUTRITION FOR CHILDREN
SUMMARY
We will discuss basic definitions about nutrition and talk about the factors that affect how people process nutrients. We will also discusse the world food problems, and you will learn about nutrition in different stages of the life cycle, macro and micro nutritients in food and malnutrition amongst children. We will train you, so you will be able to promote healty lifestyles, based on a proper nutrition.
BASIC CONTENT
We will deal with the basic concepts and definitions of nutrition, Social and cultural factors that influence the nutrition will be discussed. We will talk about the world food problems and malnutrition in certain stages of the life cycle. Macro an micronutrients will be discussed in the context of nutrition for children, Furthermore, malnutrition in general, protein-energy, obesity and different methodologies are topics we will deal with. Overall, a healthy lifestyle and the attentien to proper nutrition for children are central topics in the course.
Practical assignments will be evaluated and the course will be finalized with a written and an oral exam.
